I will state nine noticeable signs of Age Discrimination and a discription of what they are.
1. Biased Comments:
Biased comments are a range of comments used by other individuals in the work place. They are normally comments against anothers age or a statement that will have another effect on how someone feels because of their age.
2. Comparisons
Comparisons are normally how younger employees are treated. If they're being treated better than you are in the same circumstances, this could be evidence of age discrimination.
3. Disparate discipline
If you are disciplined for something that younger employees may do without facing any consequence, this could be a sign of age discrimination.
4. Promotions
If you have more qualifications than a younger employee, but don't get chosen for a promotion, this may well be due to age. This is an evident sign of age discrimination.
5. Favouritism
If younger employees are given better tasks, jobs or assignments, this could be evident that its because of age.
6. Hiring younger employees
If your company is hiring younger employees all the time, or you're refused a position and its given to a newly hired or younger employee than you, this could be due to age.
7. Suddenly Stupid
If your bosses or your work colleagues attitude changes once you hit a milestone (50, 60, 70), then this could be evident that it's because of your age. Therefore, it is an evident sign of age discrimination.
8. Harrasment
If you think your boss is harrassing you in your workplace due to your age, or if they want you to quit. This is considered age discrimination.
9. Boss is older
If your boss is older than you, but still prefers to hire young employees, this is also considered age discrimination.
All of these nine signs are the most obvious signs of age discrimination. If these are effecting you, you should take a note of all these and do something about it. Don't let your boss or work colleagues make fun of you because of your age.
